Great resource for this first-time RVer. I was able to find campgrounds that took reservations for a 9-night trip during the high season in Michigan. Really made my trip planning job easier, and it will come with us on the trip just in case.

Must have for those seeking information about campgrounds.

Great to use to plan camping trip-don't recommend buying though. Same info is on the internet and does not cost.

I ordered this for a friend's birthday and hoped it was right. He told me that it was exactly what he wanted and that there is a tremendous amount of valuable information contained in this guide. It was a perfect gift. Excellent and informative guide for Campers and travellers.

although i don't do a lot of travelling, i find this handy volume a compleat source of all the information most essential to successful rv camping

A must for anyone traveling in a RV. AAA does not have a book as comprehensive as Woodall's. Every campground in North America is in here. The only drawback is its size...large and heavy. Over a thousand pages can be unwielding, but great as a reference.

The directory is great. You can find all the campgrounds in the area by looking up the city name. It tells you all the facilities available at the campground. You can find the phone number, web site information...anything that you need in order to make reservations.

I got this book based on several people recommending the Lonely Planet line of books and I was not disappointed, except that we couldn't stay longer to actually learn more of the language. Nicely laid out with good conjugation charts and tips on who to speak the difficult, profuse vowel sounds and included lots of useful phrases. Not that we really needed them, because everyone spoke very good English!

This little book is so good. It has phrases for just about any situation you find yourself in. It covers dating, banking, shopping and every thing else.I have a knowledge of dutch, so it was easier for me to get into.I cannot imagine someone who has no knowledge of the language finding it easy to use though.

I have another phrase book that is a little shorter than the Lonely Planet version, so Bought this thinking it would expand on the quantity of useful phrases. I found that it was missing some key, basic phrases, such as "What is the way to ...?" and " I would like a table for 2 people" that the shorter competitor has. It also had entire sections that were interesting to read, but not really useful as a general phrase book for travel. Such is why ai am disappointed.

Pronounciation guide written from a Brit's point of view I think. A little confusing for Americans.

I like this little book, so does my husband. I am Dutch, born and raised and bought it for my American husband whom wants to learn Dutch. He takes it to work every day because it is so easy to take with you.

Use it for my family history research. Help[s to translate dutch and pronounce names correctly.

If you're interested in speaking Dutch this is one book that you should have.

I'll used this. Just not my first choice.

Instead, this book is targeted at intermediate to advanced users of Photoshop, so if you are unfamiliar with it or any other computer programs I refer to, I highly recommend that you look on line for in-depth tutorials, purchase one of the many books on the subject, or even take an introductory course in using Photoshop.

The DC Guide to Digitally Drawing Comics is one of the best if not the best Guide out there to creating comics. What makes the book so good is Freddie's ability to convey information so clearly and in simple, straight-forward, easy to understand terms.This book is mainly aimed at people with some knowledge of various design software such as Adobe Photoshop which was the main tool the author uses. That in itself is my only warning to anyone thinking about buying this book. Don't expect to be taught Photoshop inside and out. If you know photoshop pretty well then this will be a Gem for you. I've been working on my own comic book project mainly in Corel Painter however most design software is at its core kind of the same. Freddie explains things so well that I could actually apply his Photoshop techniques to Corel, so even if you don't use Photoshop the ideas presented here cross software boundaries. Seeing how well presented and coherent Freddie explains his workflow I am strongly considering drawing everything in Photoshop then using Corel Painter for color only.Freddie will carry you from beginning to end, from the digital sketch to the digital inks. He will give you hints, tips and so much useful ideas for creating a speedy workflow. I got the book this evening and sat down just to flip through some pages. Before I knew it I had read through more than half of the book, it was that interesting! I feel like I've just been sitting down with a friend who for hours was patiently helping me to understand the proper way to go about creating the comic book of my dreams.Finally I was so happy to see a proper section on creating backgrounds using perspective grids digitally. This is what I've been looking for everywhere for a couple years. This guy has covered all the obstacles that you will encounter, the only thing left is to pick up the Wacom pen and draw. Thank you so much Freddie for an excellent Guide or rather a BIBLE in my opinion. This book is priceless.

This is an insight into the artist's process and workflow. It teaches techniques for improving "real world" production and efficiency. The author has many Photoshop techniques and tips that will simply have you saying, "Why didn't I think of that!" and are worth the price alone in the time you'll save after learning them. If you're serious about transitioning to a digital production (emphasis on real production) model, this, is the best $16 you'll spend. It's easy to read, nicely produced/illustrated and will have you expanding your toolset/skills in no time at all. Remember, this artist uses photoshop so you're going to need to have a copy and some basic comfort with it to really benefit.Get another book for learning the very basics like anatomy etc. This book is about how to really produce by using Photoshop to make your drawing and layout more efficient so you can meet your deadlines NOT about the very basics.Finally, I'd just really like to say thanks to Williams for doing this book and sharing his workflow. I'm buying my 2nd copy of this book because, my buddy (who draws comics) won't give my first copy back (Happy Birthday you jerk! =]). That's how good it is. At home in any illustrator's reference library.

I WANT to learn enameling ... In fact, I feel a NEED to learn the art of enameling! Maggie Bergman's book Enameling on Copper meets me where I am. I have read many articles, and taken a class, but what I have learned already, truthfully, is still a jumbled cloud of ideas and pretty pictures. I need to become conversant and comfortable with the vocabulary, and the multiple choices regarding design, tools, materials, safety and procedures. Ms. Bergman's book clearly introduces all of these areas and more in a concise format, supplemented with how-to photos and illustrations. In addition, design templates and color wheel downloads are available on her website. I no longer just have an idea of what I need or don't yet need to begin. Now, I KNOW exactly what I must stock on my workbench, and which procedures I must follow for design, safety and success as I delve into the world of Enameling on Copper.

Love this book. Far too many how to books seem to be written for the ego of the author rather than to pass their knowledge on to the newbie. This book is not one of those. Here you will find a wealth of information written in a clear, concise manner by a very good teacher. I found all the basics that I needed to get started on a wonderful new hobby. If you have any interest in learning to enamel your jewelry pieces, get this book. A great buy.

In my 2nd year of a professional full time jewellery design study Enameling was one of our subjects. Loved it, half a day every week for a full year. However this book covers far more critical information than our face to face, hands on classes. The depth of information. The vital photographic demonstrations. The comprehensive subjects and well written text. Beginner to Intermediate, dare I say even a seasoned enamel worker would appreciate this book in the workshop library.

This book from Maggie Bergman makes me feel like making jewelry! It covers everything a beginner needs to get off to a solid start in enameling but also information that those with more experience will appreciate. Maggie covers studio safety, enamel types, enamel preparation, firing methods and many enameling techniques. She provides very creative projects so you will walk away from your bench wearing completed pieces. You will make charms for earrings and pendants but also sophisticated projects like an adjustable ring and a bracelet, all with full instructions: riveting, finishing, tips and tricks and pages of templates to use and advance your designs.

What a great book for anyone who is teaching themselves how to enamel copper jewelry. This little e-book has so much valuable information that many of the other books I've seen don't include.The paragraphs on safety were greatly appreciated, and the projects included were simple and easy to understand. I highly recommend this e-book as a well conceived companion to any other enamel book or video.

This is an excellent how-to book for beginning enameling. The author covers all aspects of general enameling techniques in a straight forward and very clear manner, with photos to enhance the text. Ms. Bergman takes the reader through every step, from tools and equipment needed, safety guidelines to follow, various methods of achieving different effects, design considerations, and finishing the piece in a professional manner. If you want to learn enameling and are looking for a good instrctional book on the subject, look no further. This is the book you need.

I am a fan of historical fiction novels but I have to admit that they usually revolve around some intrigue happening in the Tudor court and not the Spanish Influenza. To be honest, it was the cover of this book that first caught my eye while browsing Netgalley, and once I read the blurb it was the addition of séances and spirit photographers that really made me request it. In truth, I started the book on a whim, and couldn’t put it down.Mary Shelley Black is forced to live with her aunt in San Diego after her father is arrested. She isn’t completely new to the area, she spent a lot of time there as a child, and has many memories there of herself and her childhood sweetheart, Stephen. Stephen has since left for the war and it isn’t long after Mary Shelley arrives that she finds out that Stephen has died. As she struggles to overcome this heartache, Mary Shelley begins to be visited by Stephen’s tortured spirit. It seems that Stephen can’t move on until he comes to terms with his death, and he’s determined to use Mary to find out some answers.In the Shadow of Blackbirds has so many layers that it is hard to begin to describe its intensity. As stated above, it is a historical fiction novel, and Cat Winters did an excellent job in describing the austere and frightening time period in which people were struggling with the effects of war and death. I found myself shivering at the thought of a flu outbreak and nearly sobbed over the details surrounding the war. Through this backdrop there is also a beautifully heartbreaking love story between Mary and Stephen. Though Stephen is only portrayed alive in Mary’s memories, his ethereal character was very real and deeply moving. I found myself somewhat surprised at how much this relationship touched me and made my heart ache. The underlying plot of this novel is of course the mystery, and being an avid reader I am very rarely shocked while reading. Cat Winters leaves many puzzle pieces throughout the novel and to be quite honest, I really thought I had it all figured out. As the novel climaxed and secrets were revealed I was stunned, horrified, and rather shaken to find that things were not at all what they seemed.This is not a particularly happy read, but it is glorious, in the end. It is hard to find a specific audience for this novel as I really believe that it is fitting for all. If you enjoy layered novels, filled with historical fiction, mysterious, paranormal, and romantic elements, then this is the novel for you. This is a book that I am thinking about months after its conclusion. In the end, In the Shadow of Blackbirds will consume you, body and soul.

I’ve heard such amazing things about In the Shadows of Blackbirds but not being a huge historical fiction fan, I’ve put off reading it for a while. I’m glad that I finally decided to give it a go though, because it’s such a unique story. Mary Shelley Black lives in a time of war and disease, it’s the fall of 1918 and the Spanish Influenza is in full swing taking the lives of most people who are unlucky enough to catch it. With people dying from the flu and soldiers dying in combat everyone is turning towards séances and spirit photographers. However, Mary Shelley doesn’t believe in all that stuff, until it comes knocking on her door in the form of her first love, Stephen. But the things that Stephen is telling her and the things she discovers doesn’t add up with what she told about his death, and it’s up to her to figure out what happened to Stephen so he can finally get the peace he deserves. Like I said above, this story is incredibly unique and I don’t think I’ve read a ghost story quite like this one before as this was the first time I’ve ever even heard of spiritualist photographers. And while I may be just as skeptical as Mary Shelley when it comes to those type of photographers, I can see how in times of death, people would flock to them, searching for any shred of hope of life after death. Mary Shelley was an interesting character, I loved how stubborn she was and the fact that she would fight for what she thought was right, no matter the cost to her. I wish we could’ve gotten more of Stephen as I feel like it would have made his death more devastating for the reader, but alas we can’t always have what we want. In the Shadows of Blackbirds was a unique read and while I enjoyed Mary Shelley’s story, this book didn’t blow me away like I was hoping based on all of the amazing reviews that I’ve seen but that could be because I’m not big on historical fiction, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

This so-called book gives no information that you can't find by doing an Internet search. I can only suppose that the rave reviews come from the author's family members and friends. Buy the real Atkins Diet book.

This book was well written. But seemed to be only an overview of the actual diet. I was hoping for more information concerning the eating plan.

I bought the book because I have never read about the Atkins Diet. I didn't know who wrote the first book or anything else about the diet (wasn't sure which one to purchase). There were several grammatical errors and I would have to stop and read sections again. I guess the book is okay, but it isn't at all what I was expecting.

I love Ann Patchett. As I was processing my divorce, her essay about her divorce experience was a great help to me. It validated my decision and helped strengthen my resolve against the former friends who took pity on me for leaving my deadbeat, loser, POS ex-husband, against the ex-BFF who blamed me for hurting a man who sat home and smoked weed and watched porn all day while I worked my ass off to support him. She's right, the marriage died but I have to live and it's OK to live and enjoy my life. Bravo!

I heard an interview with the author on NPR (I think) and immediately felt a connection. Why had I not read any of her books? Not sure. After this, if her fiction is anything as good as her essays then I will. Evidently she wrote advice shorts for Seventeen magazine to pay rent whilst dreaming of writing novels. While she writes of her life experience from the perspective of a writer, her message has universal appeal. Her 2011 essay for Byline, "Getaway Car" is a "how to" directed at an audience of budding writers, but speaks to all of us about failure, perseverance, and knowing one's self. I am not a writer or do I ever intend to be, but "Getaway Car" paralleled many of my own life experiences training as a scientist. Other essays are more personal and address personal freedom and happiness. In the interview she talked about her aversion to marriage having had one bad experience in her youth. She married because the relationship temporally had forced itself in that direction. I know people for whom this had happened. They date. They live together. The relationship is OK or maybe not. After a certain amount of time they marry because it is time, not because they are with the right person. Sometimes they only realize right before the wedding that the marriage will not work but because the invitations have been sent, it is too embarrassing to call it off. Some divorce early. Some go on for years. I think this is a must read for anyone thinking of planning a wedding. She also said in the interview but I haven't gotten to that part of the book that once she let go of marriage as an option she could fully enjoy relationships that were not perfect because she knew that they did not have to go on forever. She was in control always with an eye on the "emergency exit". Highly recommend. Not finished with the book yet but I am sure it is one that I will be sad to finish.

I really loved this book of short stories. I did not think that I would ever want to read a bunch of short stories, but I read it for a book group. The short stories made me laugh out loud or sad, so they were really engaging. It was nice to have a book of short stories, because it is easy to put the book down and then pick it back up again and not have to worry about the characters.

This is a review of the Audible Version: Beautifully read by the author. I listened to it twice through. Not every author is able to read her own work, but Ms. Patchett does a wonderful job, it's hard to imagine anyone else reading it. In fact, I got the audible version of her State of Wonder, and was disappointed when it was read by someone else. I liked all the essays in this collection, My Road to Hell Was Paved, and Tennessee were probably my favorites. If you're looking for something to listen to while driving, or exercising, this might be a good choice!

Ann Patchett is one of the top authors I have come across in my life. I read her for enjoyment and I read her to learn how to write. In this Story of a Happy Marriage I felt that she was talking to me. That's how intimate her writing style was. Sometimes I laughed out loud and people in the doctor's waiting room turned to stare and then smile. Now normally I read only fiction. I often buy non-fiction but I never get to read it. Somehow a wayward fiction story would get in the way. I made an exception to read Truth and Beauty after Bel Canto gave me such pleasure. So deciding to read This is the Story of a Happy Marriage wasn't a difficult decision. It is as enjoyable as any fictional story and one gets that much closer to Ann Patchett, a person to be admired. I wish I was her personal friend. I wish I went with her on that long drive to Eudora Welty's funeral and could talk to Eudora's relatives the way Ann described in this book. But having read the book at least I was vicariously there.

I have been reading Ann Patchett's books for many years. I don't know exactly, but 10 for sure and maybe 15. I always want to know about an author whose book especially moved me but I could never find out much about her. So this collection of short pieces of non - fiction is like going camping with someone you always wanted to get to know. It was a pleasure finally getting to meet her.I definitely recommend this and all of her fiction. (The only book I haven't read is "Taft").

Patchett as a novelist doesn’t make it easy to get comfortable with her. Each new novel is a different country, with its own language and culture. You can’t just glide from one to another; you need to spend time learning about this next stamp on your passport and what you learned previously doesn’t help you now.That’s not true of this book of essays. Her life ties them all together and the pieces are biographical without being a biography. It’s one country, but with a great deal of diversity, both geographical and temporal. It was good to get to know the girl who would write The Patron Saint of Liars (still my favorite) and her parents. Her reference to her father’s work as a police detective involved in the Manson case got me searching for his name in Helter Skelter. After finding him there, I was quickly reminded that Bugliosi only had room for one hero in his book, and that spot was reserved for himself.Her story about the events leading up to her marriage (the marriage of the title) gives new meaning to the phrase, “The heart wants what it wants”. She is best when recounting her personal relationships, especially with her grandmother and with Sister Nena, the person who literally taught her to write. It was nice to be reminded of what I liked about Catholicism.

Catana Chetwynd is a self-taught traditional artist and the enthusiastic author of Catana Comics.
