One would be astonished to know the high percentage of individuals in church suffer from addiction to pornography, and other sexual acting out. The surprise is because this problem is not an issue anyone talks about. It is okay to ask for help for addiction to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, even food, but there is tremendous fear to admit to being in the grip of sexual addition. If the members of the congregation are too ashamed to admit their addiction, how much more so those of the clergy. Such people are the brunt of crude and cruel jokes and are chased from the church.This is what makes his book such a gem. Here is a pastor, once driven from his ministry due to his own sex addition, a man who almost lost his family and all that was precious to him, who has the courage to take up a ministry toward Christians with sex addictions. There is particular value in reading about how to recover from sex addiction from a Christian perspective. This book goes beyond the usual "pray and believe" simplicity and digs into a real, meaningful, spiritual, day-by-day approach to masterying this insidious addiction.
One of the BEST books I've ever read on sex addiction. Dr. Mark Laaser did a phenomenal job in writing this book; it is extremely relevant for today's society. He also wrote with incredible detail and accuracy about the family dynamics of sex addiction; sex addiction is a generational family issue--not just a single family member issue. GREAT BOOK!
The is a very "subject specific" book. It is a great resource for sexual healing and freedom. Dr. Mark Lasser is a well known and accepted expert in this area. It is a faith based look at the process of redemption when sexual addiction is present in a person's life. It's been around for awhile and is well accepted as a trusted resource for the healing of sexual addiction and compulsions. Highly recommended.

It is specific to sexual additions, but explains all addictions and successful recovery options, in an understandable way.I highly recommend it for anyone needing help with sexual addiction or any addiction. I also urge all professionals, clergy or lay counselors to read and use this book when talking and praying with anyone discussing addiction issues - clients, friends or family members.
For anyone who is or knows someone with sexual addiction, this book sheds a lot of light. I lost someone very dear to me a year ago from an overdose of heroin, but he was also a sex addict, and now I understand his struggle.

Mark Laasar, a recovered sexual addict, does an excellent job of explaining how someone can become a sexual addict, and how a person can recover and heal from the wounds that caused it. I am so grateful for this resource! My husband is now reading it. My husband is in a 12-step Celebrate Recovery program and sees a counselor.
