About the Author
Irene Sandvold grew up in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing in 1960. She went on to become a doctor of public health, a public health nurse, and a certified nurse-midwife and is a leader in her field. To those who know her, she is an extraordinary chef and hostess in the tradition of her mother, Gudrun. She lives in Washington, DC. IreneÂ’s daughter, Ingeborg Hydle Baugh, is a freelance writer with a background in finance. She lives in Washington, DC. Edward Sandvold graduated from the University of Wisconsin. His love of food and cooking began in his motherÂ’s kitchen, and he delighted in replicating the unique tastes and flavors of her food. He passed away in 2005. EddieÂ’s son Quinn Sandvold has been a lifelong cook in the tradition of his father and grandmother. He is a designer for snowboarding gear and equipment and former national amateur snowboard champion, professional snowboarder, and fly fishing guide. He lives in Longmont, Colorado.

This is a wonderful recipe book, with favorite recipes I remember from childhood. I wish I could have tasted Gudrun's cooking!
Love this cookbook and suggested it to my cousin. It brought back so many memories of my mother and grandmother and now I have the recipes to share with my children and grandchildren.
The charm of this work is the historical/biographical family history, giving me in just a few short minutes new information about the scope of Norwegian immigration. I am delighted to have it, and look forward to experimenting with the recipes.

A little bit of Norway! Loved the mix of stories as well. I ordered this for myself, but I plan to order more as gifts.
This is the recipes of my grandmother's sister Gudrun, and I recognize so much food and recipes I am grown up with. I love this book, it is the real thing! (A rare treat for me is to find a picture of my father, visiting his aunt during the war, p.19).My grandparents owned and run a glorious hotel, for several decades, and I actually remember some of Gudrun's visits there. I am sure some of her recipe's mirrors some of the everyday food in the hotel, since my grandmother was head of the kitchen. Well done, and thanks to family authors.. ABS.
